ITV Titanic 1st Impressions

I think ITV should have kept titanic as a normal drama as to grab an audience 1st impression is everything, its hard to relate to characters we have known for 5 seconds when each episode will cut to the sinking 50 minutes in and if every one of these episodes is going to build to the same point. The final episode may be worth a watch but i am really dissapointed with ITVs way of producing the drama. Its a clever idea but each week we will be presented with a new character and will have to wait till episode 6 to find out what happens to them all. I felt very unattched to the charaters and the acting was not so good, for people trapped on a sinking ship no body seemed that bothered.

Blogging on the move..

I now mostly blog via smartphone apps as they are easier & quicker to use, which leads me to discuss where would we be without smartphone technology. People seem to enjoy things they wouldnt normally do due to easy access. Before i had a smartphone i would have never blogged or used twitter because its too much effort to turn the pc on and write 140 characters, this maybe due to the fact that we are now used to having everything on demand instantly (mainly due to higher internet speeds) and so therfore we simply download an app and can share to the world what we think within a few seconds. I think the world would be a lot slower in developing new technologies and recieving news with out smarphone apps. Even tweets that are an hour old are considered as ancient in the blogging world.

Blogging from the 432 bus.

The Presentation

Our presentation went really well as we had a lot of evidence on screen to back up our theories, we used pictures, text and video to keep the audience entertained throughout. We kept the information on screen as simple aspossible to easily deliver the information instead of confusing the audience with lots of facts. I felt that our videos worked the best as we interviewed lots of different chracters. One of the things i would ofchanged was the way some information was delivered as a lot of the gathered information was turned into percentages and could have been very confusing for the audience.

Presentation Preperation

To prepare for the presentation we worked out the percentages of people that answered in a certain way so this could be inserted into the presentation to back up our theories. The videos we recorded of the public were also edited and cut down to the questions we wanted.

We then started to edit the presentation in pressie by inserting relevant text relating to the content on screen, we also uploaded the interviews on to youtube so we could link in the video in the presentation at the right time. We also inserted the questionare to show people the questions we asked and then summarised the findings. We then published the presentation.

The Interviews

We developed our research and presentation in the easiest most visual way. We based our research on interviews, written and in video form. We found in the video conducted interviews that people were a lot more open to answers and gave more detailed answers than written form as these answers were quite vague, the video interviews also gave the true characteristics and emotions that the person being interviewed showed.

Do the public think women play video games.. ?

We found:

45% of females play video games
84% of women own a wii - could be due to more games on this console being aimed towards women
85% of men enjoy competing against each other
42% of men said the price didnt matter w women dedicating thier time to other things such as TV
88% of women said price did matter - Would rather spend money on other things

Conclusion:

Women are put of by the price and themes of games, for example violence and so they would rather buy something elce, where as men are natural competitors and so like the idea of gaming and competing against each other in the gaming environment.

Solution:

Women use social networks more so gaming industries could develop social aspects to games that can allow them to play with friends on facebook etc

Use cartoons characters that target both sexes as this will imply anyone can play together
